From Concept to Completion
Librandi’s Plating Process
Seven stages
From raw component to mirror finish
At Librandi’s Plating, achieving a high-quality plated finish requires far more than simply applying metal to a surface. Our plating process is a carefully controlled, multi-stage procedure designed to produce durable, attractive, and long-lasting results for automotive, restoration, decorative, and industrial applications.
Every project at Librandi’s Plating follows a proven sequence of preparation, treatment, plating, and finishing to ensure the highest level of quality and performance.
Every part received by Librandi's Plating is thoroughly inspected before work begins. We evaluate the condition of the substrate, identify wear or damage, determine the appropriate plating method, and establish the best process for achieving the desired finish and performance.
This initial assessment ensures proper adhesion, appearance, and long-term durability.
Old plating, corrosion, oxidation, paint, and contaminants are carefully removed from the component. Proper surface preparation is one of the most important parts of the entire process — the quality of the final finish depends heavily on the condition of the underlying material.
Methods usedCreates a clean, uniform surface ready for plating.
Once the surface has been prepared, the component undergoes an intensive cleaning and pretreatment process to eliminate microscopic contaminants such as oils, residues, and oxidation.
Pretreatment stepsEnsures exceptional metal adhesion and consistent plating coverage.
The prepared component is submerged into a specialized plating bath containing dissolved metal ions. Using a controlled electrical current, metal ions bond to the surface through electrodeposition — creating a uniform metallic coating designed to enhance both appearance and performance.
Available finishesTemperature, chemistry, timing, and current are carefully controlled for consistent results.
For many projects, Librandi's Plating applies multiple layers of metal to improve durability, corrosion resistance, and finish quality. Copper may be used to smooth imperfections, nickel provides strength and corrosion protection, and chrome adds brilliance and wear resistance.
This layered approach creates a deeper, longer-lasting finish with exceptional visual appeal.
After plating is complete, the component undergoes post-treatment procedures to remove residual chemicals and stabilize the finish.
Post-treatment stepsMaximizes the lifespan and integrity of the plated surface.
The final stage focuses on presentation, precision, and quality control. Components are polished, buffed, and carefully inspected to ensure the finish meets both cosmetic and functional standards.
We examineOnly after passing final inspection is the component approved for delivery.
The Finished Result
Through a meticulous, multi-stage process, Librandi’s Plating transforms worn or aging components into finished products with exceptional durability, performance, and visual appeal — from automotive restoration to industrial applications.
